Cape Hatteras National Seashore was authorized by Congress in 1937 to protect an undeveloped portion of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse dates back to 1871 and due to beach erosion was moved further inland in 1999. Its height of 210 feet places it as the tallest brick lighthouse structure in the United States and second tallest in the world. - Bruce and Scott Sink
